Considering to de-badge...

The posts and Bing searches have pretty much explained using the fishing line technique. Has anyone de-badged their US spec 2007/2008 B7? If so can you confirm that ALL the ALPINA and B7 letters and number are attached using only double sided tape, with no holes? I don't want to get half way through the process and discover two of the letters were held on by some sort of pin that leaves a hole in the trunk lid and now a trip to the body shop is required to fill in the newly found holes. Please respond. Thanks in advance.

I've used a hair dryer before but with limited effect - not hot enough.

I've heard of someone using an iron on the letters themselves. This keeps the heat where it's required and is effective where the painted surface is flat enough to avoid damage.

I'd be careful with the heatgun approach. Just takes some floss and patience.
For the past 15-20 years most European manufacturers have used tape for attaching badges...

Guys

Just use some hot water from a kettle and some dental floss it works a treat as the dental floss is strong enough to remove the badges but will not scratch the bodywork.

After which use some tar and glue remover or another such product to remove the residue from the rear of the car. A little polish afterwards and it is as if the badges were never there.....
