B8 Brake Lines

Has anyone ever changed their flexible brake hoses (flexible bremsleitung) for Goodridge (or any other make) ??
I'm in the process of buying all I need to change the complete discs and pads , and thought I would change all
the hoses at the same time , to improve pedal feel , but talking to Goodridge they only offer a 6-line set for 325i ,
not 328i (which is what my car is based on) .
It seems it would be possible to have a 'special' set made up , but it would involve taking the car off the road for
a couple of weeks to send the original hoses to them to measure up etc . And also there would be a 'special' price
too !!

If anyone has any info I'd appreciate it .

Thxvm , Chris

Chris, I would check the original BMW Parts Numbers for the B8´s (not sure if Alpina has used M3 hoses at the rear axle)
the front could be still 328i/325i. After that I would go to Goodridge again with the original BMW Numbers and perhaps they can map them to the once we (B8 drivers) need.

Another option would be to talk to Alf Dickhaut here in Germany, perhaps he already has something in place for the B8.

Regards,
Dirk

Hiya Dirk ,

That's great , thxvm all info . I found some myself whilst I was calling Goodridge , but
had the wrong number for the rear caliper hose .

These look comparable to what's in their kit , with maybe the exception of the calipers , but
they say it won't fit !?!? And I don't understand why .

I will call Goodridge again with the BMW part numbers to try to 'make-up' a set , because in
UK it costs just £85 (around Eur 95) incl postage , which is quite a difference in price .
If not I can call Alf .

Thx again
Chris

Hi Chris,

Alf said that the ones for the rear (M3) are about 1 cm longer....so the M3 Kit should normally fit.

And check if you already have the Stahlflex part for your Gearbox early B8´s had also the rubber stuff.

Dirk ,

What's the Stahlflex part on the gearbox , I didn't hear that part before ??
Is it for the clutch/kupplung ??

Mine's Mid 1997 , so I'm not sure if count's as 'earlier' car or not ??

Chris

Hi Chris,

yes for the clutch....

Then I would say that you already have a Stahlflex part there.

Regards,
Dirk

Ok Dirk ,

That's probably why the E36 Goodridge kit doesn't fit then , the extra 1cm for M3 calipers .
would explain it .

Cheers , Chris

Having just spoken to Goodridge again , they can't cross-reference BMW part numbers with
their own .
However , telling them what part of each of their kits I needed , they could find out the lengths
etc necessary to create a kit to fit the B8 . And it would work out @ £105 (Eur120) .

The only thing that is left now to discover is ;
on their standard E36 kit for the front and the axle hoses there is a rubber grommit/gummi used
to locate the hose , but on the E36 M3 kit all hoses are grommit/gummi free .

So do I need the attachments for fitment on the B8 ??

Will let you know next installment .

Cheers , Chris
