It appears fake. Apart from the wheels, decals and badges there appears to be nothing Alpina on this car. The instrument cluster is the standard BMW type. The engine is missing a couple of badges. The exhaust is standard 850i etc.

I saw one of these at the BMWCCGB meeting at Gaydon 2 weeks ago . It was RHD , again Blue (but I'm not sure which shade) , had no engine markings , had no blue Alpina dash console , standard auto box , but was badged as a B12 5.0 .
I was told by someone at the time that it was on of Sytners 'own' made models . Could this be the same ??

This car is LHD, so probably not.
It is news to me that Sytner did their own B12 E31 5.0 conversions. Unless someone have definite proof otherwise, this seems like wishful thinking from the owner? AFAIK all E31 Alpinas came from Buchloe. But then again I have not followed the 5.0 models very close so I could be wrong.

Synter has very close ties with Alpina.... and after the intial B10..B9...etc badged series cars... Alpina went to "C" badges.... Synter complained that owners wanted the "B" badges... so Alpina went and stayed with "B" badges for all future models.
That being said... anyone can convert a standard car into an "Alpina" model with the badges and certain parts. It is not a true Alpina though... this one is certainly not.
End of discussion.
ps: my "B10 3.5 US conversion" was a similar story... it carried no alpina vin... we debated bringing the car directly to Alpina when we took european delivery of the car... but then "we" (aka as my dad) was concerned about warranty issues... (big mistake) ! So we did some of the conversion there... and the rest here. BTW... for some time the Alpina factory would only send parts to their distributor, KSK in california... and 22 King Street, Lake Success, New York --> me ! lol.... pretty funny stuff. (note: correct address changed)

Sytner built 5 E31 conversions using Alpina parts.
As typical for that era, some were 'full-blown' B12 5.0 conversions and at least one was badged B5.0 denoting that it was interior/exterior conversion only.

I take it you were referring to this car (picture from Gaydon 2009)?
It's one of the Sytner conversions I believe.
