1974 BMW ALPINA 2oo2 Gruppe 2

I recently stumbled upon this forum - it is great, I looked back on a lot of the threads I think back to 2000 or so. Since there are so many ALPINA enthusiasts here I thought you might appreciate seeing pictures and information on my 1974 BMW ALPINA 2oo2 Race Car. Really, I think any genuine ALPINA car is a semi rare thing, and of course an ALPINA race car from the 70's is definitely a rare item given the limited quantities that were put together. I think that my car may be one of the rarest of all, given the specification and that only one was constructed. ALPINA verified the authenticity of the car back in July of 2007 for me with the help of a few of the fellows that put it together originally back in 1973. Currently we are remaking the one of wings (front / back) as those unfortunately disappeared some time after the car was sold (after the 1975 season). The car is undergoing a long, painstaking nut/bolt restoration here in the US and will eventually see action in select vintage events here on the West Coast (Monterey Historic Races etc.,). On day it would be a dream to take a few laps at the Nurburgring where it raced many times. I have been busy of late so not as much time as I would like updating my various web site/blogs. I hope to get to some updates in the not too distant future.

You can learn more about the car here:

Mark great to have another North American Alpina owner here. Your car looks to have some extensive history and I for one can not wait to see some pics of your restoration project. Thanks for sharing!

I really like this board, lots of great information. I have to say I am sorry that I haven't updated my blogs or picturetrail site for a while. Been busy trying to earn money in this for lack of a better word "brutal" economy. With that, it doesn't leave much left over for work on the car. I am pretty close to splashing the molds for the front fenders and have figured a pretty slick way I think to make the backs - they will be MUCH easier than the fronts - not as complicated for sure, plus I am pretty much done with the learning curve of how to do it. I continue to plod along, my end goal is to get it (the whole thing done in the next year/two and or in time that BMW is the featured marque at the Monterey Historic Races - my plan would ideally be to re-introduce the car there.
