I was just having a look and I have found a gasket that has metal rings reinforcing around the piston holes, but that was it. Is that what the Alpina gasket is like?

I guess the other question about the gasket is whether the Alpina gasket is any different in thickness than a stock M30 gasket. Couldn't find an answer to that one...

Would this be a good substitute for an Alpina head gasket? It's a hell of a lot cheaper...

I have an email to the company to get details on it - will keep everyone posted. Guys who have turboed their M30 engines have used these gaskets so I assume they are solid.

They come in varying thicknesses so the next question would be... what is the thickness of the 11 12 651 gasket? Does anyone have this info or one that they could put a caliper to?

For now I will live in the hopes that someone knows when Alpina (if ever) switched over to the metal gasket. Being #177, I have my doubts that I will be one of the lucky few though...

It was Alpina Holland asking that,of course i drove over to Germany to pick up one overthere for 290 euro.

As Dirk i think none was originally delivered with the metal gasket.

Before and after the disaster ;-)

Old gasket (you will see the part number which you can find in the parts catalogue, the metal gasket isn't listed IIRC)

Ouch...

I got an email back from the company. The gaskets in the link above are MLS - multi layer steel. So the looming question is what is the thickness of the Alpina metal gasket?

I had the same question when I was going to put one in my B7 E24
and the answer I got from Alpina was this .

"The thickness of the metal cylinderhead gasket of the B10 Bi-Turbo is 1,65 mm."

Picture of my B7 cylinderhead with a special made M30 Turbo camshaft (NOT Schrick), stronger rocker arms and harder valve springs
