+1 I would REALLY like to know this. If there is no definitive answer for this then I am doing mine regardless. Might be a good winter project, along with pulling and rebuilding/replacing the turbos and manifolds and ceramic coating them. Going to gut the exhaust too...

Also - does anyone have a good source for the metal head gasket? Is it Alpina specific?

I hope you have a well known person in turbo rebuilding....I have dismanteled 8 (in words eight) Alpina BT Turbos and "just" 2 bearings where able to get rebuilt.
So be carefull here.....

Not sure what ceramic coating should help here...the heat is produced and it must go somewhere.....perhaps you´ll think about some additional heat shields for the goood old "metal pork"

I can think of that any M30 head gasket might fit, but why don´t you order the Alpina one....300€....and done.

Good to know on the turbos - I was thinking of changing them out completely and/or rebuilding. I guess I should think more along the lines of the former.

300 euros for a gasket form Alpina? I might as well by 6 at that price

When I rebuild parts of my BT engine this spring I bought a new head gasket for the car. I ordered it from a German BMW/Alpina dealer and the cost was about 300 Euro. Below is the German name, Alpina parts number and price including WAT.

Zylinderkopfdichtung steel (11 12 651) = 277,31+19%

Best regards,

/M

890 euros?!! ouch! Thanks for the part number swederunner.

For now I will live in the hopes that someone knows when Alpina (if ever) switched over to the metal gasket. Being #177, I have my doubts that I will be one of the lucky few though...
