the head gasket of the B10 BT is a metal head gasket and not an organic one. At this point ALPINA really did a good job. The only thing I am always afraid of is the temperature by driving that fast on a long distance. Do you remember the nice picture made from ALPINA during a test on the dyno? The turbos and the manifolds were glowing... The engine blocks always have the same cracks on the side of the turbos after extreme long high-speed runs.
Nevertheless I love the BT besides my B7 and I wish to have one as second car. Maybe one day...

There's some confusion here...Chris has a B8 4.6 Touring with the original organic headgasket.

The BiTurbo engine pictures are very nice! However I agree that's not a good sign for the longevity of the engine block.
With all the high performance engines from Alpina, I think that prophylactic parts replacement is in order to avoid costly surprises during ownership. It still sucks when it happens though.

yes you're right. But I have changed nearly all expensive parts. In fact my oil pump was always running well, no reason to make a replacement. But now...
Yes, it really sucks!!! After having revised the engine in 2004, I thought the BT metal gasket would be the first and the last for my B7. But you cannot replace the crankshaft without removing the cylindre head. I feel like moving in a circle. And that's everything but nice.
