It possibly could be the same car as I'm pretty sure there isn't another brilliantrot Alpina B10 in the area.
The timeline is correct, but the guy's name I bought it from was Sam.
Yeah, it has a damaged lip, but it had a few more issues than that. I had to replace the shocks and springs as they were all shot (which caused the damaged lip in the 1st place), o-ring seal in the output shaft, 4 wheel alignment, 4 new tires, and a major tune up. Other than the damaged lip, she's now in excellent running condition. I was hoping to replace the lip this summer, but $1600.00 in tires took priority, so the lip will be next summer's project.
I can tell you one thing though, I certainly didn't pay anywhere near $20K for it.

To bad you can't make it to the wrenchfest. Maybe when you get back we can meet up and talk cars.

Cheers,
Peter

Hi Bill,

Glad another owner came out of the woodwork. Shame you can't make it to the wrenchfest but I will host others. I also plan on doing some joint E31 and Alpina drives this year as well - one trip to Banff for brunch and a drive and maybe a long weekend type trip as well.

If you need any immediate help you can always contact me and we can see what we can do about getting your car into my garage and sorting out whatever needs sorting. Will email you shortly...

cheers,

Rob

The car is pretty much good to go, I have nothing that I am aware of left to sort out. I just fixed a leaking o ring in the heater core. Other than that the only thing I need is a AC recharge, it seems I must have a leak.

Any chance of doing a brunch run before June 15? That is the last weekend I am in AB with the car.

So what else is in town that you know of?

Peter's B10 3.5/1 #349 is indeed the one that was for sale in Edmonton in early 2008.

There are currently 9 B10 3.5/1 in Canada that I know of.
- 1 Sterlingsilber
- 1 Alpinweiss II
- 1 Brilliantrot
- 2 blue (Royalblau & Macaoblau)
- 4 Diamantschwarz

I will definitely see what I can arrange for anc outing before you go - think of it as a send off for you.

Glad the car is in top shape but the garage door is always open if you need to swing by and sort anything out before you leave.

Kees - how many of those are in Alberta? I would assume that mose would be in BC...

Cheers,

I know there are two newer B7s (since they were released here 3 years ago) that I have seen here in Calgary (owners are not on the board I don't think). As for the older cars, I would assume there are more, but the poeple who own them have not shown themselves.
To complete the list...

There's 8 B10 BiTurbo's of which 2 semi-US owned. Additionally one silver BiTurbo that was advertised but unclear if it was imported to Canada.

Furthermore 51 E65 B7 and at least 3 Roadster V8.

I thought I had the same issue with my heater core as I was smelling coolant, but I can't seem to find it.
I even took it into BMW and they could not find a leak anywhere. They even did a pressure test on the system and it showed no signs of pressure loss.
That one has me stumped.

Bill, a bunch of us from bimmerforums are trying to organize an Edmonton BMW meet on June 6th. We're not sure if it will be just a meet or a cruise (maybe a cruise down to Drumheller and back), but you should consider attending.

Orvis,

I would be in for a Drumheller meet. Not sure about an EDM run. I am in the middle of moving and that would involve a couple of days.

As for the heater core, a mechanic I talked too suggested checking the O rings on the plastic tubes on teh front of the core. Mine were OK but the screws were very loose allowing a very slight drip. I could see the residue. TIghtened up, and still a slight smell but it may be just residue. I was warned it may take a month to get rid of the residue.

Hopefully this is the fix.

Bill

Well, I did have a coolant system flushed last fall. I don't use the heater often as the car is put up during the winter months, so I suppose I could be getting the same residual smell from some coolant that may have been spilled.

I'll keep you posted regarding the June 6th meet. Regardless, if you and Rob decide to meet up, let me know, I'll come on down too.

Cheers,
Peter
