The belt fed device at the bottom of the car is not a fuel pump (this one is in the trunk, right side and can be seen on some pics).
The rear end of my car being cooled, this device is an oil pump. It indeed works via a belt that is powered by the rear/left transmission arm.
Hot oil flows back to the transmission through a cooler (also to be seen on some pictures).
you have my curiousity now Kees. I have not noticed this prior - but I will be crawling under mine soon to see
I thought I saw it when I was looking under your car. Yours will look slightly different and you have a different diff and the lines come out of the rear cover.
I just bought a lift and will be installing it next week so if you ever want to climb around under your car let me know.
Also, I can not remember where we ever left off on the Deko set. Randall asked me the other day and I had no answer for him.

Now back to that sweet Alpina 3.0 CSL!!!!!
Thanks Todd - I have not done a thing on the Deko set - I still have both colors. I have recently spent a lot of time and $$ on fixing all fluid drips from RMS, power steering and many many more, rubber hose replacements, replacing ABS sensors that went south etc.....all fluids replaced. I was not happy with front windshield gasket/trim install so I had that replaced again. Car is spectacular now.
and yes Yannicks 3.0 restoration is one of the best I have ever seen

It may be a rear differential oiler cooler. On my B10 BiTurbo, the rear differential (AKA final drive) oil is fed to cooling pipes located inside the hollow space of the rear bumper. The pump is rubber belt driven off the rear axle. BMW cars which do not have this feature have to use finned rear differential covers to try and air cool the oil.

Sorry to disapppoint you, but no real progress done... Well, in the end there is not that much progress left... Waiting to find a solution for my 3 piece Alpina split rims issue, I have put a new set of CSL stock wheels with new tyres. Alpina Airbox now OK and on the car. The head cover still is missing as I do not manage having the right colour (2x painted already and result still not OK, I cannot live with a wrong colour).
The car is therefore ready (Sorry, also forgot the front spoiler issue but that one will be addressed at a later point) and will go through the TUV in Germany at some point in March (Germany, because car will first run under German plates and under the name of a friend of mine). It will certainly cover some hundreds of kilometres in Germany for "fine tuning" prurpose. I will then bring it back to France (maybe May ? June ?) and put a french number plate on it. To avoid the stupid french "Alpina" problems, I will register the car under "véhicule de collection" (a special french registration possibility put in place for - collectible - cars older than 30 years). Doing this, I should avoid any potential trouble.
I will drive to the "Le Mans Classic" event with the car (July 11 - 13) and hope having TONS of fun on the road on the way to Le Mans and on the way back home. I also will drive to the Oldtimer Grand-prix in Germany at the Nuernurgring (August 08 - 10) with the car.
