Yannick

500-1000km per year..Must be hard to hold yourself back from driving in the rain ( where the steering is a bit...lighter if you know what I mean..)

Alors, beaucoup de chance avec cette restauration..J'espčre que les autres choses sūr l'alpina sont comme les choses on peut voir ą l'images ici. Sūrtout le moteur m'interesse..Tu as tous les parts originaux?

Sebring NL,

Do you really mean I would put a stock angine or even an M5 or M635CSi engine in this car ? Just kidding More seriously, I have for sure all the correct parts I did not wanted to post pictures of the parts because they are very dirty on the old pictures I have and I am very reluctant showing pictures of such parts in "bad condition" compared wit hthe condition of the car . Nevertheless, I am ready to make an effort and post one ot two pictures for you Please note : Engine, engine cover, Alpina airbox, gearbox etc... will for sure look "as new" when they will be in the car and they will not stay in the very poor condition as on the pictures I also have the cooled rear end (being overhauled right now) but I could not find pictures of it (even in dirty condition ah... ah... ah...)

Here is the original B2-S engine

Here is the orginal Alpina Airbox. Please note this is a very early, veryt light Airbox as Alpina did manufacture on very few early cars (later Airbox model had ALPINA embossed on it and was at least 2x-3x heavier than this early Airbox). On this very early Airbox, the word Alpina was a kind of sticker and letters were sticked.

Here is the original ZF close ratio 5 gears gearbox (ZF S5-18/3)

To conclude, I also attach a picture of the later (much more heavier) Alpina Airbox. Alpina letters are now part of the casting and stickers disappeared. Such Alpina Airboxes are much more "common".

Oh dear.

Very nice.

I always appreciate people going all the way.

If I would have gotten more customers like you, I would probably still be in the panel beating business

Will be a thrill cleaning all those parts to perfection

Wout

Remarkable - seeing this project, if ever you want to sell ANY of your cars, Yannick, let me know!

I've never seen a restoration of an early Alpina done to such exacting standards - inspirational!

GaAlpinaowner, this is a bit off topic but very interesting. Regarding the 3.0 CSL (not CSi) sold at the Essen Techno Classica show, I have a really different figure.

I do not know where you got your 60k information from but I was in Essen and I have personally discussed with Franco Lembo (Owner of the Automobilia Vintage Car company) who is the dealer who sold the car. If I remember well, at the beginning of the exhibition the car was tagged at 95k (I got the price from F. Lembo himself as I had a small chat with him and asked him how much he would sell the car for).

Very rapidly (the day after in fact) the car was sold and a big $OLD sticker was put on the windshield. Having seen the sticker, I went to Franco Lembo again and kindly asked him if he would mind to tell me how much the car sold for. His answer was : the car went for 80k (I am absolutely sure of this figure). Quite ironically, I also met a french guy in the BMW hall and had a discussion about this CSL. This french person also asked F. Lembo how much the car sold for but got a different answer than mine : he was told the car sold for 85k. I do not understand why the dealer gave two different answers but he did (Maybe because he was supposed to bring a next CSL the day after and was pushing the price ?). Anyway interesting.

Last remark (very sorry guys for this long off topic answer... nobody can stop me when it's about 3.0 CSLs !!!), this 3.0 CSL is a full stock 3.0 CSL. There is no clue of Alpina parts on it.

Yannick, the level of your restoration is truly beautiful. That is a car that any BMW or Alpina lover would be proud to own.

Nice, but the yellow would upset me

Regards in France, the car was sold then, so it must have type approval, so it should be OK ... and anyway it won't be a problem if you put in on "carte grise collection" which I would not do.
There is a ne law, as of January apparently, were if YOU owned the car abroad (in EC), and bring it back, then they have to register it ... I'll let you know how good that rule is when/if ... the B8 is registered.

Interesting price conversation a lot of descrepancies and I hope they did get 85k euro = $117,00 dollars....my figure came out of this months Roundel magazine July 07 page 56 on the picture of the car (pic has the $old sticker on windshield also)......which by the way is gorgeous - black stripe and all - not to sure about the chrome fender accents....though...looks like Alpina wheels on it(hard to see from angle)...no engine shots

I had no idea these cars (plain EURO CSIs) could be worth this(I see several here going for a hell of a lot less money)....How many Alpina CSI's were made? And what would a 100% Alpina CSI price out at???
