I've had the exact same problem

The very first time it happened, it took them a couple of month of back and forth with the PUMA case people and eventually, they gave me a new car. After about 2k miles on the 2nd car, it started doing it again so I took it back to my dealer. This time around--especially after their experienced with my previous car, they were able to fixed it just fine because of what they've learned from my past car. As of yet, the problem has not come back & I now have about 9K miles. As per my SA, they were received a new tool from BMW that allows them to properly bleed the VANOS line. If you're interested to know more, the BMW dealer is in Henderson and Dave Sams is the service manager who handled my case. Hope this helps you out some! Good luck!
