Huh?
I have to admit that the tho't of iDrive makes me up-chuck and SMG doesn't tickle my left foot much, but I tho't that BMW with it's (aaahem...) Formula One concept 'stuff' had it together. At least now.

Can't speak for anyone else but I've not had any problems in 6600 miles. If the E60 M5 is "full of problems" you can't prove it by me.
Don't know why I Drive causes you so much concern, it's a simple system which works flawlessly for anyone who has any technical ability. When you use the voice feature it's even simpler and mine works very well.
Regarding SMG III. I was one of those who was going to wait for the manual but decided to take a chance. After getting used to it there is no way I'd go back to the manual. The SMG is a great transmission and the performance you can get from it would be impossible to duplicate with a manual. In my view it would be foolish to buy the six speed manual.
Having said that I hope to find someone that does go that way so that I can run circles around him.

P.S. I had two E39 M5s and an M3. While they were great cars they pale in comparison to the E60 M5.
