They did it this way for ensure that the headlights is waterproof. Although some folks still get cases of water condensation anyways. I do sometimes but I just turn the headlights on and they're gone in a couple of minutes. I couldn't get the dealership to cover this even if I wanted to. So, keep that in mind when you make the conversion.
