Maybe I got a bad batch of suction cups with my previous detector (Escort.) Over time, they lost their shape and hardened. The detector would also sag under its weight as the suction cups heated from the sun. This required repeated adjustments to keep the detector level. But I suspect you are right, all it would require is a new set. Since the V1 is heavier than the Escort, I was anticipating that this problem would be worse.
