sorry I can't answer your question directly, but its an interesting point

I've just got my M5 and although I'm blissfully happy I have noticed that hard acceleration doesn't feel a brutal as "it actually is".

This is fine btw, I wanted a car which would be a good mix of luxury sedan and sports car, and the M5 seems to be just about the perfect mix for me.

However after "demonstrating" the new car to various family members and friends I have noticed that the driver gets the least feeling of all - must be something psychological due to the driver being the one who has just pressed the pedal and is anticipating the reaction... either that or I'm more used to the car than they are, and have acclimitised the feeling away.
