I hear what Sachs says about "should be a direct bolt-on," but people out there installing them say otherwise.

I also learned in the interim that the M5 stock clutch is made by LuK, Inc. and not Sachs. I'm still waiting on a call from LuK regarding any aftermarket solutions they have....

As for my situation, I finally got BMW to agree to assist in my clutch replacement, after MUCH wrangling. They're going to split the costs with me as a goodwill gesture, unless they find a component failure, at which point it would all be covered under warranty.

Your lightweight flywheel option sounds interesting. Mind if I ask roughly what it costs to have one custom made? PM me if you'd rather.
