With my limited knowledge I would perhaps focus on ways to reduce the temp of the air going into the engine. You may literally get more bang for the so-called "buck" concentrating on that part of the engine system.
The glass idea is interesting. I'd be interested in knowing its sound transfer properties compared with the stock glass. Added weight, if significant, so high up could increase body roll though.
