Whether it actually started in the US or came from Germany as a 635, and it's just registered as a 633 for insurance purposes. As an interesting side note, I tried to register it with BMW NA's Owner's Circle, and they didn't recognize my VIN #, which according to their site assistance, means that it wasn't bought in the US.

I think I could help you on this. With just the last 7 digits of your VIN number I think I could tell you what model it is really.

P.S: If it was bought in Europe the first three digits should be WBA and if it was bought in USA 4US.
