Message:

Just bought a 2000 M5 from the dealer in S. Florida, 23k, about 6 weeks ago. Love it.

I'm noticing, especially at low rpms / speeds (ie 30 MPH), that the engine is making a woo-woo type noise- the car vibrates a little on each "woo". I revved it a little at park to see if I would still get the problem (rule out tires), and, yeah, its still there.
When I crank it up, I can't here (sic) it any more- rpms to fast to notice.

Any advice (beyond drive faster than 30)? Thanks. Any idea as to the prob? It is subtle, but I'm concerned about it getting worse.

On my old 10/99 built 2000 M5 I had the "woo woo" motorboating sound but no vibration. It seemed to happen at around 30-35 mph in 3rd gear and 1800-2000RPM. I did not experience this on my 2001 or current 2002. I sold the 2000 with 12,000 miles and had no issues with the car. I forgot about it until I read this post. Has the cause ever been determined? Old style piston rings?
