I had two 97 TT's

First one was stolen! Ouch. Second one I sold when I thought I wasn't going to use it enough any more. Regret that very much.

Overall, the 993 is awesome. Any TT is. And it depends what you are coming from and what you are used to. I found it to be everyday driveable. I liked the old Porsche dash layout. Does it coddle you like a Lexus, no? Will you EVER care? No.

It is REALLY important to get a good history of your car. Break-in, especially on the Turbos, is cruicial. And not just keeping rev's down for a couple k miles. I mean from 3-10K. Did the person run it at 4000rpm for a stretch, then at 5000, then at 6000... all stuff which improves the engine performance down the line...

All this being said. The car is a joke. Awesome, awesom piece of machinery. Keep your eyes on the windshield flex - does it make a lot of noise when you go over a speed bump - and the 97's had a rash of iffy sunroofs.

You'll have a car of 99% of the world's dreams.
