After months of testing and R&D we have completed dynotesting on our prototype CAI for the E60 M5. The first dyno sheet will show the differences between a bone stock E60 M5 with charcoal filters vs. ASR CAI on the same exact vehicle back to back. The second dyno will show the same vehicle with charcoal filters removed vs. ASR CAI also back to back.
On the first dyno you will see a peak gain of 22whp and 13rwt. Now look at the second sheet without charcoal filters. You will see a peak 12whp gain and 15rwt. Most importantly look at the 4k mark on the run with no charcoal filters. We gained a very strong 20whp and an astounding 27rwt. The ambient temperature on the dyno was 96.26+/- 2 degrees during the time it took to change the intake, the relative humidity was 30%.
As everyone knows, the aiflow volume from a fan in the dyno room is nowhere near real world conditions on the road or highway so we decided to put it to the test. We took two factory bone stock cars with charcoal filters removed and ran almost 10 passes back to back from 2000rpm in second gear to redline in 5th. Both cars were virtually dead even depending on driver error. Then we ran one car bone stock charcoal filters removed vs the other car with ASR CAI. Both vehicles were the same with the same drivers. Starting from 2000prm 2nd gear to redline in 5th gear. Completely different outcome, the ASR CAI car got almost a 1/4 car by the end of second, end of third 3/4's of car, end of fourth almost 1.5 cars, and by the end of fifth almost 2 cars and still pulling. Also, virtually the same outcome everytime with about 10 passes. (Unfortunately, the only safe test road in the area does not permit us to go beyond the redline in fifth, just not long enough.) We will try to run again, but this time on video.
In conclusion, we've already logged almost 500miles city and expressway through rain and Miami's extremely hot and humid climate with no overheating, CEL's, or faults of anykind. We will log about another 500 miles before completion of the roadtesting phase, along with more dyno testing to see if we can extract more power. We believe the ASR CAI will produce even further gains with an ECU flash. After the roadtesting and final dyno testing phase is complete with no issues, we will begin production and set pricing and availibilty. For the final product we're working on a blackchrome powder coat that looks absolutely amazing and much more asthetically pleasing. We will also be test fitting this system on the E63 M6 and making adjustments, if any, to fit both vehicles. Stay tuned for the group buy upon release!
Almost forgot to mention my gratitude and how thankful I am we have such great customers to lend us their vehicles for testing purposes. Thanks again Danny and Jorge!
