I can totally understand why you'd want to avoid the dealer experience if you can. But I somehow doubt the dealer will make your life easier by letting you do something that makes perfect sense!

I think they have to go through all the motions in order to have a legit warranty claim with BMW. That might mean getting the car in the shop and having the technician type in the diagnosis and subsequent fix. Having said that, I have had experiences with Porsche service advisors going above and beyond the call of duty to preprint work orders, pull technicians out of the shop to eyeball problems and even perform minor adjustments/fixes in the drop-off area. So I think your success with trying to get through a dealer experience as fast as possible will depend directly on how cool or uncool your service advisor is! Good luck.
