eljockvis - I know you didn't ask me, but i figure more data points can't hurt - at 46K mine was pretty nasty smelling - just like the new stuff
As for dirt / grime / etc, I didn't find any.
But, to be honest, the real reason I changed mine was for ease of shifting in the cold, and THAT was a real improvement!
