ALPINA B9 and B10

The B9 came in
1982 and replaced the 630 CS B2. The B9 was replaced by the B10
in 1985. A total of 121 cars were built between 1982 and 1987.
Engine/Gearbox
The engine is identical
to that of the B9 3,5 saloon. It is based on BMW´s 3,5 litre
unit but Alpina have made some modifications to the engine. They
have fitted Mahle pistons and a sharper camshaft, modified the
cylinderhead and combustion chambers and reprogrammed the Motronic
system. The result is 245 bhp and 320 Nm of torque. The B10 has
the same engine as the B6 3,5 which produces 261 bhp. The gearbox
is made by Getrag and have 5-speeds.
Suspension/Brakes/Wheels
The B9 and B10
uses the Alpina-Bilstein suspension with progressive springs and
gas-pressure dampers. Behind the 16in Alpina alloys with 205/55
tires at front and 225/50 at rear are ventilated discs all around
mounted.
Interior/Exterior
The B9 has Recaro
sport-seats inside. It also have a leather-covered steering-wheel
and new instruments. The exterior changes include a new front
spoiler and rear spoiler.
Performance
In Auto Motor und
Sport´s test the B9 accelerated from 0-100 km/h in 7,3 seconds
and had a top speed of 238,4 km/h.
